If we really choose to, we could all imagine what the honest exploration of feelings would have involved for someone like Audre Lorde, a queer black woman poet and writer growing up in the 50s and 60s in the United States. Feelings of outrage and isolation alongside feelings of tenderness, longing and wonder.
I deeply appreciate her guidance here, and wonder what kind of work it takes to accept and know my feelings so deeply that I turn them into a petri dish for daring and radical ideas.
